The main symbol of the city of Niagara is definitely a grand waterfall of the same name. Unique natural landmark is far not the one and only spot of tourist interest in the area. The city features interesting and original cultural life. Tourists visiting the city in the period from November till January will have a chance to participate in one of the major ethnic fests – the Winter Festival of Lights. The grand folk fest is accompanied with various entertaining programs. Bright music concerts and street artists’ performances are an essential part of the festival.
The climax of the fest is considered to be a pyrotechnic show and breath taking light performances giving the name to the festival. Annually the area along the main road of the city is equipped with more than one hundred of incredible compositions, decorated with specially chosen illuminating lights. The length of this exposition is more than six kilometers. The unbelievable exhibition attracts annually more than a million of foreign guests.
The compositions are illuminated with more than three millions of small beaming lights each of them taking its specially allotted place. The compositions look much more impressive at nighttime that is why a major part of the entertaining events of the festival takes place at nightfall. The city of Niagara is often called the Honeymoon Capital of the World as the city is heavily visited by the newly married couples.
