Gastronomic traditions of the city were formed under the influence of Italy, France, Russia, and other countries, which influenced Poland in different historical periods. Everyday local food is largely pretty simple and prepared from the most affordable and common products. In local restaurants, you can try rich meat soups with seasonal vegetables. One of the most original first dishes is Polish Tripe Soup "Flaki".

A pretty popular snack is "Śledzie w śmietanie" - pickled herring with sour cream and onions. A tasty meat snack is “Boczek ze śliwką” - prunes wrapped in bacon.
