The city of Luxembourg has a sufficient number of interesting sacred architectural structures. In addition to the already mentioned Saint Michel’s church (Église Saint-Michel), there are other beautiful cathedrals, among which is primarily worth noting the majestic Cathédrale Notre-Dame, which has two organs. The church was built in the early 17th century. Also notable is Eglise Sacré Coeur, which often hosts classical music concerts. The city likewise has an Orthodox church, Église des Saints Apôtres Pierre et Paul, built in the year 1982 for the Russian community in the city, as well as two synagogues, as the Jewish community in the city is quite large.
The remains of the Luxembourg fortress, Citadelle du St-Esprit and Dent Creuse, are remarkable in the eyes of tourists as a building that stores history. At some point in time, battles were fought in this building between the French, the Flemish, the Germans, the Dutch – in short, this is barely what was left of the former power of the once great Luxembourg fortress. A walk beside the building will bring you only pleasant impressions – it is not every day that one gets the opportunity to walk around a building with such a story. La Passerelle, built in the middle of the 19th century, is another architecturally interesting structure worth visiting. Looking at this bridge, you involuntarily start remembering something magical.
