Several excellent museums operate in the city. The Military Historical Museum keeps a unique collection of exhibits. The collection is devoted to challenging for Honduras times, to the history of the struggle of its people for independence. In the museum one can see collections of old photographs and newspaper clippings, leaflets and all sorts of military attributes, more or less associated with the old days.
The Museum of Anthropology and History introduces visitors to the amazing natural world. It has an excellent collection of fossils, samples of plants from various regions of the country, stuffed animals and birds. For the convenience of visitors, the multifaceted collection is divided into several thematic exhibitions. Special tours are held for visitors with children.
One of the most beautiful places in the city is Morazan Square. The square got its name in honor of the first president of the state. His monument has a recognizable position in the center of the square and is decorated with ornamental plants and landscape formations. The square is a popular hiking place among tourists and local residents. The pedestrian Caye-Peatonal street originates nearby.
