You can discover several interesting sightseeing objects in the vicinity of Karlovazi village. At Cape Fonyas is an ancient castle of Lycurgus Logophet, built in the 19th century to protect the island from the Ottoman conquerors. From the moment of construction to the present time, the castle bears the name of its founder - a famous military leader. In the 19th century, it was at the head of the Greek naval squadron. Despite the fact that the fortress was built over a hundred years ago, it is considered one of the most modern buildings on the territory of Pythagorio nowadays.
