You can discover several interesting sightseeing objects in the vicinity of Karlovazi village. Many come here to admire unique mountain gorges and waterfalls, while others are attracted by the ancient Church of the Transfiguration, which is the oldest one on the island. Near the church, you can see the ruins of an ancient Venetian fortress.
Directly in the village don't miss the opportunity to visit the Winemaking Museum. It is quite small, but it stores an interesting collection of exhibits. Here, you'll see the devices and tools that were used to make wine hundreds of years ago. Beautiful clay jugs, a collection of antique dishes and wooden barrels, in which wine was kept - that's just a small part of the museum's collection.
At Cape Fonyas is an ancient castle of Lycurgus Logophet, built in the 19th century to protect the island from the Ottoman conquerors. From the moment of construction to the present time, the castle bears the name of its founder - a famous military leader. In the 19th century, it was at the head of the Greek naval squadron. Despite the fact that the fortress was built over a hundred years ago, it is considered one of the most modern buildings on the territory of Pythagorio nowadays.
