Samos is a beautiful tourist resort, which is located in the Aegean Sea. This is a resort town that has focused all its economic activities on delivering travel services. This small island has no large industrial capital, so Samos totally works for tourists.
Among the resort areas of the island the most significant ones are the following towns - Pythagorio, Karlovassi, Vatha and Kokkari. Pythagorio is located on the southern coast of the island and is famous for the fact that many years ago the great Pythagoras lived in this ancient town. Even though only ruins remained from the ancient town, tourists keep coming to see the surviving historical treasures - Roman baths, an ancient amphitheater, the old Ephpalinos Tunnel, which was built in 524 BC and was built to provide the town with water. Not far away from Pythagorio you will see the half-destroyed temple of Hera.
The most popular beach of Samos is named Potami. It stretches over one kilometer, and is located near the rocky ranges and magnificent forests. Don’t forget to make a walk to such secluded parts of the island as Megalo Seitani and Micro Seitani beaches. The majority of the beaches are covered by shingle, and some of them are not protected from the wind by mountains, so they attract many windsurfers.
