Cairo Maṭār al-Qāhirah al-Duwaliyy International Airport is the busiest airport in Egypt and the second in the passenger traffic on the continent. The airport is located 15 km from Cairo, in Heliopolis. In the early 70s of the last century, Cairo International Airport became the major one and replaced the old airport of Heliopolis. The airport annually services about 20 million passengers.
At the airport, there are three air-strips, each of which can accommodate any modern and heavy airplanes. Passengers are services in three terminals divided into several concourses. Besides international and domestic flights, T1 serves private and representative flights in Concourse 4 (that serves as a separate unit). Terminals 2 and 3 are a union complex and linked with the air crossing. There is another seasonal terminal (ST) for pilgrims.
Terminals, parking lots and AirMoll are linked by the transit system “people mover”. From the airport, you can reach the city by limo. Such services are provided by several companies. Stops of public buses, shuttle transfers and the international bus station are located near T1. The airport and the center of Cairo are linked by three metro lines. In the territory of the airport, you can take an old-style taxi (black-and-white cars) or a new taxi (white cars).
