Beijing International Airport is the main airport in China. It is the second airport in the number of passengers in the world. Every year, it serves over 96 million passengers and a lot of cargo flights. The airport was opened in the late 60s. It is 20 km from the capital. At the airport, there are three air-strips and three terminals. The impressive size of the Terminal 3 and its remoteness from other terminals have made it a separate unit with its own infrastructure. The 3rd terminal is divided into several satellites (C, D, E). T1 serves only domestic flights; T2 and T3 serve both domestic and international flights. At the airport, the inter-terminal train and shuttles run between terminals and their satellites.
The airport is linked with the city by the freeway. The transport center offers various kinds of transport at the airport: taxi, buses, and private cars. The transport center in T3 is linked with the underground station by the crossing. The metro line runs to the center of Beijing (through T2 and T3). Public buses run to different parts of the city, as well as to the countryside. You can take a taxi near each terminal.
