Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport in Australia is located 8 km south of Sydney city centre, in the suburb of Mascot. It is the primary aviation hub of the capital of Australia. The passenger traffic of the airport amounts to roughly 42.5 million people per year. The first flights took place at the airport in 1919. In 1923, the airfield became public property. A year later the airport started handling the first regular flights. The airport was named in honour of pioneering Australian aviator Sir Charles Kingsford Smith in 1936.

The airport encompasses three rather long runways and three passenger terminals. The Freight Terminal of the airport has several functions, as it is used for parking purposes, when parking bays are full. A free shuttle bus runs between Terminals T1 and T2/T3.

The airport is accessible via rail lines. The railway station is positioned on the lower level of the International Terminal. The Domestic Airport railway station is placed under the car park between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. There is a train fare. What is more, Sydney trains do not have special provisions for passengers with luggage. Transit route 400 passes via both the International (T1) and Domestic (T3) Terminals.
