Airport location, terminals and transportation
Brisbane Airport is located near the eponymous city and is considered the third busiest airport in Australia in terms of passenger traffic. The annual passenger traffic of the airport amounts to 22 million people. The air terminal was opened in 1928. During World War II, the airport was used by the United States Air Force. As a result, the runways were upgraded and the airport became capable of handling large aircraft. Passengers are served in two terminals, which are the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. Moreover, the airport operates a cargo terminal and two runways.
The terminals, the bus stops and the Skygate Centre are connected to each other by a free shuttle service. City bus number 590 goes from the Skygate Centre to Brisbane. Taxi ranks are placed next to the terminals. There is the AirTrain rail line between the city and the airport. Railway stations are found in both the terminals. One may use train to move between the terminals. Besides, transport network companies (such as Uber) are available at the airport. Transfer buses depart from the terminals to various districts of Brisbane and other localities.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
Major international agencies provide their car rental services at BNE. These are Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, Redspot, and Thrifty. The representative offices of these companies are positioned in the passenger terminals of the airport. The companies offer a wide range of vehicles, starting from reasonably priced sedans to premium-class cars and SUVs.
The car rental offices are situated on the 1st level of the Domestic Terminal, opposite the baggage claim area. Furthermore, the desks of the car rental companies are stationed on the first level of parking garage P1.
The offices in the terminal operate from 5 a.m. till midnight every day. After closing of the offices in the terminal, passengers may refer to the car rental desks of the companies in parking garage P1. In the International Terminal the car rental offices are located on the second level, next to the café.
At the airport there are also offices of the vehicle hire companies, the cars of which are collected outside the territory of the airport. These companies provide free shuttles which transport clients to the rental car pick-up location. The desks of such companies can be found next to the Domestic Terminal, in parking garage P1 (the first level). At the northern end of the Terminal, one should follow the signs to the lower level.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
In the territory of the airport, the following short-term and long-term car parks are placed near the passenger terminals: P1, P2, the car park at the International Terminal, and Airpark. Valet parking is found on the third level of P1 and on the first level of the car park at the International Terminal. Premium-parking services are available on the third level of the Domestic Terminal.
The Novotel Hotel is set not far from the passenger terminals. Orange buses run from the terminals to the hotel. Instead, one may order a transfer service. This hotel lies beside the Skygate Centre. Such hotels as the Pullman and the Ibis are nestled in the vicinity of the Domestic Terminal.
