This city is a world-famous center that manufactures excellent Argentine wine and olive oil. In summer it's an excellent resort full of fascinating routes and excursions, and in winter the city turns into a paradise for skiers.
In 1861, the city suffered from a great damage – a disastrous earthquake destroyed all buildings and monuments. During the creation of a new project of the city all seismic features have been taken into account. New squares have become much wider and the streets are located on the distance from each other.
Just like the majority of cities in the country, Mendoza resembles a standard European city. In the center of the city there is a lot of greenery, so both locals and travelers traditionally love walking there. As the city is located in a fairly arid region, you can see numerous man-made channels on its territory. These channels are designed to maintain a humid microclimate in Mendoza. The creation of the artificial irrigation system made it possible to decorate the territory of the city with greenery, which is not usual for the natural environment of this region. In addition to this, there are famous vineyards around the city. While walking on the city’s streets you will see at least one channel on each of them. In order to make the movement more comfortable, the streets are connected by bridges.
