Teide Volcano is the main sight of the resort. The name of the city has come from the name of volcano. It can be literally translated as "Snow Mountain" because early settlers called the town after they had seen a unique view of snow-covered peaks of Teide. The piedmont area is the location of National Park Las Cañadas del Teide. The landscape here reminds of scenes from the movie about Moon – you will see same weathered rocks and lava flows. The most famous ancient monuments of this place are the pyramids of Guymar, which are located in the eastern part of the city. The purpose of this architectural complex remains a mystery up to our days. Nowadays Ethnographic Park is organized around the pyramids.
