The external appearance of the building present a unique fusion of Byzantine and Muslim traditions. The connoisseurs of architecture will easily distinguish the traits of Gothic style in its look. Another remarkable spot of tourist interest is the monumental cemetery named the Campo Santo. The cemetery was established in 1277 and is of great architectural significance now. The cemetery was badly damaged during the World War II however local architects and fine art experts managed to renew and restore a major part of its inestimable decorations which are today kept in a local museum.
