There are quite many upscale restaurants in the city. Rates in them are not cheap. Travellers, who expect to save on food, are recommended to visit cafes and bistros, which can literally be found on every street. Many cafes sell food that can be taken away. Large restaurants accept food delivery orders.
Stores with the most attractive prices are located in the port area. Here you will also find some very popular markets. The majority of shopping malls and shops are open from Monday to Saturday. Sunday is usually a day off. Shops open no later than 10:00 and close around 19:00. Lunchtime can be very long in some stores and can last from 13:00 to 16:00.
Fans of shopping are recommended to visit Bari during summer and winter sales, which last from June to September and from January to March respectively.
Do not forget to leave tips to maids, waiters, and porters. A tip of one euro will be sufficient. In large restaurants the size of tips can be somewhat larger. However, leaving more than five Euros for service is not common in the local restaurants.
