Without a doubt, Notre-Dame Cathedral is the permanent symbol of Le Havre. This magnificent cathedral was built in the first half of the 16th century. During its long history the building was reconstructed many times and so it has completely changed its look. The only element that has remained from the original cathedral is a bell tower built in 1520. The facade of the building, which visitors can see today, is made in accordance with best traditions of Baroque style. Starting from 1974 Notre Dame Cathedral has become the residence of bishop.
The local town hall is an excellent example of modern architecture. It is located next to the main square of Le Havre. The height of the building is 60 meters. Its roof is equipped with a large observation deck. A part of the premises of the town hall has been converted into a historical museum, which tells visitors about the most important events in the history of the city. Ship owner’s House is one more interesting museum. This is a beautiful mansion, which was built in the 18th century.
