It’s convenient to travel the province on high-speed TGV trains; they can be an alternative to quite comfortable buses. Tourists always have an option to rent a car; it is worth noting that there are free roads connecting towns of Alsace.
The province is characterized by a fairly dry climate; summer is always pretty hot and winter is cold. Those who expect to devote a lot of time to hiking and excursions are recommended to have a trip during the off-season.
Shoppers should take into account that almost all local stores accept credit cards. It’s worth to carry a sufficient amount of cash, if you are going to visit street markets and small restaurants in remote towns of the province.
You can pay for purchases and services in euros only; any other currency won’t be accepted here. Money can be exchanged at any of the local bank; they usually serve clients from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
