Diocletian's palace is a fabulous building that is worth visiting. You can hire a guide or learn everything about it from specialized brochures. Pay your attention to the Peristyle, the large open-aired place with 6 columns around it. In the middle you'll see the beautiful arch that makes the view even more pleasant.
To the east from this place you'll find the cathedral that has become the symbol of Split. On the opposite side takes place the 'People Square'. There you can also have a look at the City Hall of the 15th century, the city museum and the Ethnographic Museum. The statue of Gregory of Nin also shouldn't be left unnoticed. In the 10th century this man was the church leader and Ivan Mestrovic, the famous sculptor, devoted that statue to him.
If one of your hobbies is museum visiting, Split is the very city you need: besides the mentioned you can go to the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments, the Museum of Croatia, the Maritime Museum or the Mestrovic Gallery. The last one takes place in his former residence that Mestrovic created by himself.
