Delhi is the city with its own character and during the first visit to this city there is no chance to be left indifferent: you either fall in love with it at first sight or start to get irritated with every corner, every building in city and try to escape as soon as it's only possible. So the first impression is very important, as this is the very factor that will influence the further relations between you and Delhi. From one hand, this city can frighten with its crowds and never ending noise and busy life, and from the other hand it can easily captivate with its fantastically beautiful architecture and landscapes. New Delhi is the capital India; so it's no wonder that many tourists make their opinion of the country, basing on what they saw in Delhi.



Delhi is virtually divided into two parts – New Delhi and Old Delhi. It has the population of more than 11 million people, so it is the third biggest city in India. Only Kolkata and Mumbai outnumber it. Delhi stretches along the marvelous Yamuna River. This city is very diverse and first of all it can be noticed by the architecture. Different epochs and styles neighbor with each other, starting with the 10th century, then going to the 17th century and ending with modern constructions, created a century ago by the British. You can rarely notice automobiles, jinrikishas or carriages together. But despite a great number of parks, located in the city, New Delhi is considered to be one of the dirtiest cities in India.

British architects played a great role in creating the look of New Delhi. In the capital of India wherever you drives, you are likely to get to the India Gate. On that pace takes place the memorial devoted to the people, died during WW I. Just right at Janpath takes place a great number of hotels; you may also find there some interesting buildings. The embassy and various museums (including the National Museum and the Nehru Museum) are located nearby. This city is a developed business center with lots of offices around. Every morning hundreds of people go to the city center to do their job. There is also an expanded apartment section there. At the same time Old Delhi creates an opposite impression: things are humming, people are hurrying. Sometimes it creates an impression that the locals just have no time for sleeping – they have more important things to do.

Moving between Terminals: The International Terminal (Terminal 2) is about 5km (3 miles) away from the Domestic Terminal (Terminal 1) at Palam. There is a free transfer shuttle between the terminals. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air India also operate a free shuttle running 24 hours; information counters are situated in the Arrivals areas of both terminals.
