The travelers who plan to visit Greece also have a chance to see the ancient pyramids covered with legends. Three to present preserved pyramids are located on the territory of the Peloponnese peninsula. The first researchers have explained them as prototypes of the world-famous pyramids of Giza. However, the remote location in the hard-to-reach mountain range has disproved the theory of possible similarity. The people who built the pyramids in the inaccessible mountains hardly knew about the existence of Egyptian pyramids.
The detailed research of the Greek pyramids showed that some of them are much older than the oldest Egyptian pyramid, Djoser pyramid. The Greeks were the first people on earth who began to erect the huge stone pyramids for ritual purposes. The best are two pyramids, Liguria and Ellinika, not far from the villages of the same name.
The first was built in the 28th century BC, and the second - almost 800 years later. The two pyramids are now half-destroyed. Some of them were taken apart by the local residents who used the stones for the houses. The third pyramid - the Chanie Pyramid is a unique building. This is a uniform cone, carved out of the rock. The pyramid has a round base, the length of which is about 30 meters. Within the pyramid is the small room with the height of less than 1.5 meters. The new researches have discovered the ruins of ancient pyramids in Greece. There are 16 pyramids in the country.
