Museum-Apartment of Victor Hugo, France

The most beautiful Rohan mansion is located on the Place des Vosges in Paris. It is one of the most significant architectural monuments in the city. Victor Hugo rented an apartment in this mansion between 1832 and 1848. A museum dedicated to the writer's work is located in this apartment today. The opening of this museum took place more than a hundred years ago, in 1903. It keeps an interesting thematic exhibition. Fans of the writer will be able to see personal belongings and manuscripts of Victor Hugo here. There are also the very first editions of his works here. Unusual paintings and sculptures dedicated to Hugo complete the collection.

Museum-Apartment of Victor Hugo, France Paul Meurice is the founder of this unusual museum. He was one of the writer's most loyal friends during his lifetime. Many of the writer's personal belongings were inherited by him. Paul Meurice gave them to the museum afterward. The museum's collection has increased several times over time. Descendants of the writer gave unique items and antiques to the museum.

You can visit the chic living room at the museum today. A rich collection of porcelain plates is stored in it. The writer was actively collecting them during his lifetime. Victor Hugo's office was recreated in the apartment. There is also a "red room" here, in which the writer liked to receive guests. The writer's bedroom was also restored in the museum. He spent the last minutes of his life in it. The situation in the historic building has changed a lot by the time the museum opened.
