Mexico City International Airport, also known as Benito Juárez International Airport, is the busiest air terminal of Mexico and Latin America. This high-altitude airport was formally named after one of the country's presidents, who was in office at the end of the 19th century. The airport serves both domestic and international flights. The passenger traffic makes up approximately 30 million people a year. The air terminal was opened in 1952. It encompasses two runways, that keeps the passenger traffic at the same level. Benito Juárez International Airport does not handle private aviation flights. The airport terminals (T1 and T2) are connected to each other by the Aerotrén monorail system.
Taxi services, authorized by the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT - SecretarÃa de Comunicaciones y Transportes) of the Federal Government, are available at Mexico City International Airport. These are Yellow Cab and Porto. Taxi tickets are sold in the arrival halls. Several bus routes go from the airport to different localities situated near Mexico City. Bus stops are placed in both T1 and T2. The airport is linked to the centre of the capital by the Metrobus, a bus rapid transit system. The Metro station, which belongs to Line 5, is placed beside T1.
