Side is one of the best-known classical sites in Turkey, and was an ancient harbour whose name meant pomegranate. Side is a resort town on the southern coast of Turkey, near the villages of Manavgat and Selimiye, 75 km from Antalya) in the province of Antalya. It is located on the eastern part of the Pamphylian coast, which lies about 20 km east of the mouth of the Eurymedon River. The territory is so flat that if you walk along some streets and look carefully between the buildings and observe the sea on either sides.Side used to be an important commercial town. It had a large fleet and conducted trading with the countries situated on the coasts of the Mediterranean and used to a port for inner Turkey. In Side there was a lave market and a piracy home. It somehow helped the city to develop into a rather rich prosperous town.
