Vigo is rich in Romanesque and Gothic style architectural monuments, as well as other interesting buildings. Its population is about 300,000 inhabitants. The city is placed on the Rio de Vigo inlet, which is part of the Rias Baixas.

Both the locals and visitors frequent its small and sandy beaches with great enjoyment. Some of them have stunning coastal rock formations. Cies Island, a piece of land surrounded by brilliant white beaches, is observable from many of the coastal beaches. There is a major nature reserve on it, which is famous throughout Europe.

Its beautiful surroundings and beneficial geographic location has made people want to crave for Vigo in all times. It is impossible to overstress Vigo's historic importance as a center of fishing industry, which used to play a decisive role in the city's economy. However, this industry sustained loss after disastrous oil spills, which have impacted sea life very badly and have left no alternative for locals but to look for another job.
