Dubai Wants to Become the World’s #1 Shopping and Entertainment Destination

Dubai wants to break its own record and open the biggest shopping mall in the world. Once finished, the complex will be able to serve 80 million people a year. The complex will look like “a city within a city”, and the cost of its building is no less fantastic - £1.7 billion.

The mega development will become the location of up to 100 hotels, five large theme parks, and many other entertainment and shopping facilities. It is reported that these theme parks will be based on different themes, such as film characters, animals, and so on. Universal Studio is interested in opening a Bollywood related theme park in this development. They believe the park will attract many Indian visitors, who have been travelling abroad more actively in recent years.

The name of the mega project is already known – Mohammed bin Rashid City. The new city is named after the ruler of the emirate, and will be located close to the downtown of Dubai.

Other interesting facilities will include a water and marine life park that will be able to serve 16 million visitors a year, a special safari themed park for children, and numerous galleries and museums.

Mohammed bin Rashid City will be also the location of the largest shopping mall in the world. Most likely, it will be called the Mall of the World. The mall will be surrounded by a large park that will be 30% more than Hyde Park in London. The development of the mega project is to be started in the nearest future, and the first phase is to be completed in 2014.

According to Dubai officials, their primary aim is to make Dubai one of the largest and most popular leisure tourism destinations with over 2 billion of visitors a year.
