A historical monument of the later period is the beautiful mosque Cezayirli Hassan Pasha. Its construction was completed in 1791. Despite the impressive age and impact of time, the mosque still looks very impressive. The Fethiye Museum (Muzesi) invites travelers to learn a lot of interesting things about the history of the city and admire its priceless artifacts. Within walls of the museum there are hundreds of exhibits relating to different eras. It is noteworthy that all of them were found in the city and its surroundings. In addition to archaeological findings, the worthy collection of ethnographic artifacts is stored in the museum. Interesting crafts and art objects, costumes and decorations fully reflect the multi-faceted and unique culture of local people.
At the top of a steep hill there is incomparable Fethiye Castle, which is associated with many interesting legends. According to one of them, the powerful castle was built by Order of St. John. Locals believe that the impressive fortification is guarded by supreme forces; they treat mysterious symbols carved on the walls as a proof.
After admiring the old castle visitors can go to the eastern part of the hill, where there are several ancient tombs too. Fans of the mysterious myths and legends will be interesting to see the famous spring of the Arax located in the immediate vicinity of Fethiye. The spring is surrounded by huge boulders. According to historical data, up to the 15th century, the local women have come here to wash clothes and used huge stones instead of washboards.
