Vnukovo International Airport is one of the three largest air terminals of Russia. It is located in the eponymous metropolitan area, 10 kilometres from the Moscow Automobile Ring Road. Vnukovo International Airport was put into operation in 1941. During the Great Patriotic War, the special air force group and the 10th Transport Division were deployed at the airfield. Vnukovo International Airport is linked to the city by buses number 911, 611, 272, and 526. These buses go from the airport to different metro stations in Moscow. Bus N11 transports passengers at night (goes to Kitay-gorod Metro station). Aeroexpress suburban trains run from Vnukovo Airport Station towards the city. The suburban trains take travellers from Airport station to Kiyevsky Rail Terminal. One may book taxi, shuttle and car rental services in Terminal A.

The information desks of vehicle rental companies are placed on the first floor, in the arrival area of Terminal A at Vnukovo-1. The car rental counters are found next to the taxi desks, opposite the exits from the baggage claim area.

Several vehicle rental firms cooperate with the airport. These are Arenda Avto, Tis car rent a car, Elex Polus, and Rent motors. The representatives of the firms meet the customers in the terminal and take them to the location where they may hire and collect a vehicle. Depending on the company, the limited daily mileage may vary from 125 to 155 miles. In accordance with fuel policy, clients pick up and return rental vehicles with a full tank. The agencies operate from 9 a.m. to 8-9 p.m. Rental car collection and return after hours at night may be possible at an additional cost.

The car rental companies have requirements for drivers. They must be aged 21 or over (or even 22-23 or over for certain models of vehicles), and have driving experience from 2 to 3 years.

Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby

The airport features two multi-level car parks 1 and 2, opposite the passenger terminals; short-term car park 3; long-term car park 4; long-term economy car parks 5 and 6, served by a free shuttle. One may park a car in the area in front of the terminals for free for up to 15 minutes. Parking in car park 2 is also free of charge for the first 15 minutes. Private car parks situated outside the airport offer a free shuttle service to the terminals (or back) to their clients.

The DoubleTree by Hilton hotel is nestled in the territory of Vnukovo International Airport (opposite the entrance to Terminal A). It is connected to the terminal by a walkway. In addition, the Ekipazh Hotel is set beside the air terminal.
