Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is located 40 km southeast of Port Louis, the capital of the island of Mauritius. The airport consists of a single terminal and has only one runway. It is the only island airport with international status in Mauritius.

You can get to the airport by taxi or by car via the Royal Road (A 10) from the city of Mahebourg or via the M2 Highway from the city of Port Louis. Taxis can be found at the exit of the terminal. The information about taxis is available to passengers in the arrival hall. You can find the information about several leading carriers at the information desks at zero level in the hall of tour operators. Public transport runs from the city to the airport. Buses number 09, 10, 198 run 3 or 4 times per hour. At the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, the tourist service centre in the arrival area, one can find useful information for tourists arriving in the island, for instance, how to get to the city or the information about transportation services.

The number of major international and regional car rental companies operates in Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. These are Avis, Budget, Europcar, First, Hertz, Sixt, ABC, Pingouin Car, Sky FLeet, Dollar Thrifty, and Green motion. The representative offices of these companies are placed in the arrival hall (in the area of travel companies). They are desks 01-10. The majority of companies allow their customers to receive the leased cars in the parking lot of the terminal. Thrifty and Avis provide a free shuttle service to car collection points. Such local firms as Royal car rental, Morisoleil Car Rental, and OLA Mauritius offer to meet their clients at the airport and take them to a rental car pickup point.

A leased car can be received in the car park in the territory of the airport. A car rental parking lot is positioned in the right wing of the car park, next to the parking spaces of tour operators, opposite the taxis. The car collection points of some local vehicle rental companies are situated outside the airport. Pingouin Car and POP are located in SSR International Airport Road, Plaine Mangien 51520. In order to receive a vehicle you will be required to present your driver's license (where the entries must be written in Latin script), and your identity card with a photo. If you have made a preliminary order, a printed voucher will also be required. Supplementary services and special equipment are provided if available and at an additional cost.

The airport comprises a parking lot with daily payment for a parking place and 24-hour video surveillance. Parking space price will depend on the type and the size of a vehicle. The first 20 minutes of parking are free of charge. Parking charge are paid before leaving the parking lot, according to the time your car stayed in it.

There are no hotels in the territory of the airport. However, the small Blue Lagoon Beach hotel is nestled not far from it. Besides, the Shandrani Resort and Spa lies in the vicinity of MRU (6 km). Both Resort&Hotels offer a wide range of services. In addition, at the airport you can find information about such hotels as the Constance hotel, the My holidays, the One & Only St Geran, the Solis and many others.
