Vilniaus Street remains a popular destination for tourists. This is the central street of the historic district, which is entirely at the disposal of pedestrians. There are many outstanding monuments of architecture, including a beautiful cathedral. A significant part of the houses represented on this street was built in the 16th century. Some of them managed to survive to the present day in their original form. The historic street has another interesting feature - the old telephone booths, which were deliberately not removed, so as not to spoil the historical appearance of these places. In many historic buildings, interesting shops and restaurants are open today. Visiting them will make the walk even more interesting.
In one of the most quiet and picturesque areas of Kaunas there is the beautiful Pazaislis Monastery, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Europe. It was built in the 17th century and it changed its status many times over the history of its existence. At a certain time in the huge building of the monastery, there was a hospital, an archive and even a tourist base. Religious significance was returned to the historical building only recently. Now in the monastery you can see interesting church relics. Interesting cultural events and concerts of classical music are often conducted here. In the monastery there was also a secret passage, the length of which is about 12 kilometers. Hundreds of years ago, it connected the monastery with the center of Kaunas.
