Airport location, terminals and transportation
Chubu Centrair International Airport (that is also called Nagoya Airport) is located on an artificial island in Ise Bay. Nagoya Airport is the second air hub in Japan that has been built on the artificial island. The island is 35 km from Nagoya, which conditions the second name of the airport. The airport was finished in 2005. The first name of the airport came from the Japanese abbreviation that stands for Central Japan International Airport. The airport services about 12.5 million passengers every year. It is situated in the region with a well-developed car and aircraft industry. The passenger terminal has three concourses coming from the central booking office. In the terminal, there are areas for domestic and international flights.
At the airport, there is a railway station, from which you can travel not only to Nagoya, but also to other settlements, by express train. You can travel to the city center and big hotels by public bus. You can reach the western part of the bay by scheduled ferry. The airport is tied to the mainland by the toll highway.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
At Chubu Centrair, you can rent a car in the Access Plaza Center. The passenger terminal is tied to this center. To use the services provided by any car rental company, you need to go to information stands in Access Plaza. They are located opposite the luggage storage. At the airport, there are the following companies: Toyota rent a car, Nippon rent a car, Times car rental, Orix rent a car, Nissan rent a car. Companies don’t service clients at nights. Most of the companies’ points are open from 7 am to 22 pm.
Companies offer to book a car in advance via online services. The advance booking reduces the service time at the car rental point. To get a car, it is necessary to provide a printed voucher, an identity card, and driving license.
In the territory of the airport, there is a fuel tank that will let you fill the fuel tank when returning a car, if necessary. The station has several fuel types. Cars are taken and returned to the parking lot near the terminal.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
At the airport, the parking area is tied to the passenger terminal. The parking area is open 24 hours a day and is divided into two lots: P1 and P2. If the main parking area is occupied, there is an additional parking lot where you can park during rush hours. This parking area is located within walking distance from the terminal (9-10 minutes on foot).
At the airport, there are several hotels: Centrair Hotel, Comfort Hotel, Toyoko Inn, Toyoko Inn Chubu, Four Points by Sheraton. These hotels are within walking distance from the terminal. In the passenger terminal, there is the capsule TUBE Sq hotel.
