Many compare the tower with a space rocket, it has long become a popular tourist spot. The television tower rises on a hilltop, which offers a gorgeous view of the surrounding landscapes. Now, besides its original function, the tower performs a number of additional ones. Thus, it houses a small hotel and one of the most famous restaurants in town. One can get to the top of the hill by cable car, however, many interesting hiking trails start here.

Mount Ještěd, at the top of which the TV tower stands, is a popular ski spot. The skiing season opens here in December and lasts until March under favorable weather conditions.
