At the booking time, please check the rental conditions carefully. Quite often, rental offices in Minsk require two credit cards to guarantee issuance of a cabrio or a roadster.

We recommend ordering additional no-excess insurance that covers your risk (franchise), since the franchise amount for cabriolets in Belarus is quite high.

Make sure to inspect the rental invoice issued at the office in Minsk and compare it with the information indicated in your voucher. Sometimes, rental officers make 'unintentional' mistakes in rental invoices.

Driving Advices for Belarus – Traffic Regulations and Road Usage Peculiarities

Fines in Belarus are measured in base values. The current amount of the base value is 100 000 rubles. Local police are authorized to charge fines right on the spot. The violator doesn’t have to make an immediate payment as all fines can also be paid off in bank. However, it's worth noting that in some cases the failure to pay the fine on the spot may result in confiscation of the driving license. The document will be returned once the fine amount is paid.

Local petrol stations sell diesel fuel and unleaded gasoline (80, 92 and 95). Gasoline with the 98 octane number is also sold at some major petrol stations. There are also gas refilling stations, but they are quite rare. Motorists are allowed to carry up to 10 liters of fuel in metal cans in the vehicle.

Every vehicle must be equipped with a fire extinguisher (it must be stored in the cabin), a first aid kit and a warning triangle. This is mandatory equipment, and the absence of one of its elements may result in a fine.
