The Kensington Oval stadium built in 1871 is one place worth visiting. The place is known as the “Mecca of Cricket Fans”. Local, regional and international cricket tournaments are hosted here. Despite the fact that the arena was built in 1871, it is very modern. A place worthy of visiting is the Cathedral Church of Saint Michael and All Angels. It is notable for its interior decoration like its stained glass and wooden decorated elements. St Mary’s Church is one of the oldest churches in the capital of the island of Barbados, and also a very attractive one. It is therefore also worth visiting. The very first church on the island was once located on its place.
Garrison Historic Area is perhaps, somewhere worth visiting unreservedly. During the 18th-19th centuries, the complex was a base for members of the West Indian regiment in Barbados. It is worth mentioning that once upon a time, in 1751 to be precise, George Washington lived here for two months. At that time, he was caring for his sick brother. Currently this building is called “George Washington House”. In general, the first President of the United States visited only one island outside the United States, and it was Barbados. The locals are very proud of this. You can find many interactive exhibits, as well as antique items in the house-museum.
