A week prior to the Lent a bright and buzzing fest takes place in the city. The Sa Rua Carnival is followed with bright parades and costume marches, interesting music and dance shows as well as various kids’ parties. The fest ends up with a bright carnival in which thousands of people take part. The most symbolic and interesting spring fest is considered to be the Semana Santa being held a week prior to the Easter holiday.
This holiday is followed with various religious events and festive marches, different statues are brought outdoors from the churches for all to see as well as icons and other religious relics. By old good tradition all the local folks visit church to bless palm tree and olive branches and then presented them to close and dear people. The most interesting and engaging summer fest is considered to be the Sant Bartomeu carnival which is celebrated in the late August.
