Among architectural attractions of the region, Notre Dame Cathedral located in Auxonne, the church de Brou, Fontenay Abbey and buildings of Bresse are the most visited. In the suburban area of Macon there is the famous Cluny Abbey founded in the early 10th century. Every year, the shrine is visited by over 60,000 pilgrims from all over the world.
