Locals are famous for their love to sport. We should say a couple of words about this passion separately. The city’s sports facilities are visited absolutely by people of all ages. Beer festival is one of the most exciting holidays of the city. For the first time the festival was organized in Prague back in 2008. The festival is celebrated in May and usually lasts two weeks. This is a truly spectacular show with widest choice of food, beverages and entertainments, so there is no wonder why the festival attracts more and more guests each year. The festival also gathers the best breweries of the country, who present here their best sorts of beer. During the celebration bakers and chefs do not cease to amaze gourmet by their unusual dishes. Huge tents are installed throughout the city. The tents act like summer open-air cafes and can accommodate up to ten thousand people. An interesting fact – the organizers of the festival have developed their own special currency, which is known as "beer thaler". Visitors can buy beer in tents using only special tokens which are sold in local stores in small packages. Also, such unusual "beer" currency can be used to buy interesting souvenirs or to participate in various entertaining activities.
