India News: The Country Promotes Its Medical Tourism and Marriott Celebrates an Important Milestone

News Without a doubt, India is not only an important source travel market and an emerging tourist destination. The country is in constant attempts to promote itself as a perfect destination for different travelers. Recently, the Indian Ministry of Tourism has paid their attention to Medical and Wellness Tourism. The country will try to boost its attractiveness as a medical tourism destination.

In order to make that possible, the ministry will fund a number of promotions, various workshops and events held by accredited Medical and Wellness Tourism Service Providers. The ministry has even prepared a special film about medical tourism in India together with BBC. This film will be broadcasted during various promotional activities.

India also tries to make it easier for foreign tourists to enjoy medical related visits to the country. For that purpose, India has launched a new type of visa – Medical and Medical attendant that will make the whole process of getting visa much simpler. This special e-visa is much faster and easier to obtain. In the nearest future, special facilitation counters will appear in major airports of the country, namely, in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.

Meanwhile, large hotel chains continue expanding their presence in Indian cities. Marriott International has recently opened its 100th hotel in India. Another 50 hotel projects are already in the pipeline. The Sheraton Grand hotel in Bengaluru, an emerging information technology city, has become the anniversary 100th hotel.

The 360-room hotel with 39 suites features magnificent panoramic views of the city and stylish modern design. The new hotel has all signature features of the Sheraton brand, such as Sheraton Fitness, Shine Spa, Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience, and Sheraton Club Lounge. In total, the hotelier manages more than 20,000 rooms in the country in 32 Indian cities. Marriott has 15 brands launched in India and provides jobs for more than 30,000 people. This year, the company is expected to hire extra 3,000 employees for its growing portfolio of Indian hotels.

Marriott underlines that there is a definite demand for midscale hotels in India, and the hotelier is going to open more properties across the country in coming years. At the same time, luxury hotel brands also do not experience a lack of customers. For example, Marriott’s Ritz-Carlton hotels in Mumbai, Pune, and New Delhi are soon to join the family.
