According to information provided by PKF, occupancy in Scottish hotels goes up almost in all destinations of this region. Hotels in Glasgow are the only exception as here occupancy has fallen by 3.6%. This has caused the decrease in revenues of 11.5%.
As PKF mentions in its study that was conducted this June, such positive trend is noticed within several months. Here Scotland has been the leader, but other locations of the UK start catching up. As Alastair Rae, PKF partner, mentions, there is a broad increase in upturn of the hotel sector in Scotland comparing to the previous year.
Both hoteliers and experts are very positive about results of this year. 2011 may be a successful year for them and hotels will finish it with growth. Currently the raise of occupancy of hotels in Edinburg estimates 4.7% and 2.9% for hotels in Aberdeen.
Even though, as Mr. Rae adds, life is getting tougher for tour operators and hoteliers, they learn to provide better services and more discounts to their customers. Nowadays this is particularly important for business travelers.
Also, current growth doesn’t mean returning to high pre-recession levels. Growth is steady and hotels will need to wait for some more to get back their high revenue levels.
PKF is a famous company that prepares hotel trends and surveys. The firm has been on the market starting from 1970s.
