Thailand Welcomed 1 Million Tourists from the United States in 2017

This year, Thailand tourism industry has reached an important milestone – 1 million of tourists from the United States. In order to celebrate this achievement, the country’s representatives identified the 1 millionth American tourist. It is Mr. Nathaniel Alexander Way, a pharmaceutical scientist from California who arrived in Bangkok.

Just like many Americans, Mr. Way came to Thailand to enjoy a 10-day long honeymoon, during which he wanted to focus on the nature and heritage of the country. His route includes Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani (Khao Sok), and Krabi (Ao Nang). Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) underlined that such a tremendous growth is the result of ongoing efforts of the organization in creating the image of the “Amazing Thailand” and, therefore, continuously growing awareness of the US market. These days, more American tourists think of Thailand as an appealing vacation destination.

TAT also underlines the importance of USA for Thailand as the States have become one of the main source markets for the Kingdom. In order to promote tourism in Thailand more efficiently, TAT opened offices in Los Angeles and New York. The company particularly underlines the attractiveness of the region as a destination for honeymoons and luxury holidays. A series of popular TV shows only strengthened the popularity of Thailand. For example, The Bachelor in 2013 and The Bachelorette in 2011 were held in this country. Thanks to the partnership between TAT and Virtuoso, the latter promotes the kingdom as a honeymoon destination.

According to TAT, the country has much more to offer to visitors. Luxury products, Thai cuisine, paradise-like beaches, health and wellness holidays, local heritage, Muay Thai lessons, and various experience tours will only grow in popularity in coming years.

What destinations do tourists prefer? Of course, Bangkok hotels benefit the most. The list of top destinations in Thailand also includes Phuket, Ayutthaya, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, and Krabi. The country also tries to promote emerging destinations, such as Sukhothai, Ko Lanta, Chumphon, Ko Kut, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, and many other interesting places. All of them are located in different parts of Thailand, so travelers will have an amazing opportunity to explore the culture of different regions, picturesque nature, and local cuisine. Finally, Tourism Authority of Thailand is in the process of negotiation with EVA Air – together, the companies plan to offer more affordable flights to the country.
