Highest Swimming Pool in London Debuts in Shangri-La Hotel

Now Shangri-La Hotel At the Shard, London, will be home to one more sight of this wonderful city – the highest swimming pool in the capital of the UK. The brand new Skypool is located in the Gong bar on the 52th floor of the building. By the way, the bar is also known as the highest bar in the city, so it’s really fun to visit it.

The design of the pool was developed by Andre Fu from AFSO, who wanted to make it look the same way as the rest of the building. The design of the bar was inspired by the dou-gong concept that was used in old Chinese palaces. This is an ancient way of placing architectural elements that was once popular in the country. The new bar features both Eastern and Westerns elements, blending the two cultures in one amazing place. The pool has also become an important design element of the bar. In the daytime, it’s separated from the rest of the bar by movable dividers, but at night the pool becomes a part of the bar. The ceiling of the place is decorated with a giant faux scroll. The whole design of the bar reflects the newest trend in hotel design – to combine brand and place heritage in design.
