The InterContinental London Park Lane has presented its new suite named the Royal Suite. The suite was closed for redesign, and now it’s finally open and ready to welcome its guests. The design of the suite has been inspired by Queen Elizabeth II.
The idea to make this suite came on the year of the queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The building occupied by the hotel is actually connected to the queen she spent a part of her childhood in the building on the site of the hotel.
The design of the suite was developed by HBA London The Gallery. The main idea of this luxury suite’s design was to combine opposite things. The suite naturally combines masculine and feminine, soft and hard. Inside the suite guests will find wall coverings that resemble silk, floral chandeliers made of glass rods, and brass nailhead patterns on doors. Yellow, the signature colour of Queen Elizabeth, is also present in the design. It is mixed with cream and platinum shades. The size of the suite is 135 sq. m. and the main theme of the suite is the decades since the birth of the queen (1926).
The spacious suite looks even larger thanks to antiqued mirrors. The Royal Suite has a library with a writing desk and leather wingback chairs. There are several photos in the suite that feature young Elizabeth when she was yet a princess. Other art works include a painting of Hyde Park, photographs of St. James’s Park, some old postcards, and sketches of the queen’s hats.
