Sol Melia has announced the opening of a hotel in Dubai. This will be the first accommodation in the Middle East by the famous hotelier. The 5-star 164-key accommodation in Dubai is scheduled for opening already this October. The hotelier will manage this property owned by Khamas Group. The approximate cost of this project reaches 200 million dirham (US$54 million).
Melia Dubai is just the first step of the hotelier according to its strategy of expansion to the Arabian Gulf. Sol Melia already has negotiations with famous property owners in Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The hotelier plans to find its future partners among them.
Sol Melia is a famous hotelier with many accommodations in Germany, Italy, the UK and other European cities. This makes the targeting in the Middle East obvious – the hotelier wants to concentrate on leisure tourism, so European visitors can choose the hotelier they already know while making a vacation trip to the Middle East countries.
Melia Dubai will have 5 restaurants. The signature restaurant of the hotel will feature Italian cuisine and will be run by a famous chief Sanjeev Kapoor. On the territory of the hotel will be also located a Spa center, a swimming pool at the rooftop and a tapas bar.
Even though Melia hotel in Dubai is intended for leisure travellers, it will also have some business features, mostly targeting Gulf Cooperation Council nationals. Starting rates in this hotel reach 650 dirham per night.
