The only hotel in Libya by Marriott, the luxurious 370-key JW Marriott Tripoli remains closed and all future operations of this property are under the question. Even though the company anticipates the reopening, currently Marriott is unable to name the exact date of it.
This property can be called unlucky one as the hotel in Tripoli was opened just 5 days before the beginning of uprisings that turned the country in an unsafe place. Marriott has made a decision to evacuate all international staff from the hotel. Now there’s only the Libyan staff left in JW Marriott Tripoli. These people guard the facility and hold it while it is suspended.
In his interview to Arabian Business Ed Fuller, the president of Marriott’s international lodgings, tells the hotel is closed, but this is a temporarily decision. The company keeps a close eye on the situation in the country and will reopen the hotel as soon as possible. However, Fuller doesn’t name any particular date.
