Bigelow Aerospace has offered astronauts positions in domestic staff through to hotel management at orbital hotel complexes planned to be put into orbit in 2015. Only those with space flight experience and a certificate of Space Training will be admitted to the program, NY Daily News reports. This will also require official approval from space agencies and national governments.
Not only Americans are going to be accepted for positions. Bigelow Aerospace invites specialists from abroad as well. Currently, there are 44 open vacancies. According to vacancy descriptions, duties will include providing safe environment for customers, assistance in experimental work and open space work. Additional pluses to an applicant’s background include medical education, a pilot’s license and other useful skills.
Bigelow Aerospace Company was created in 1999 by Robert Bigelow, a businessman, who made profit on transactions with real estate, and now he is determined to build a network of inflatable space hotels for researchers and space tourists. Although the idea seems comic, Bigelow and his crew are serious about it. Two small-size prototype modules have already been put into orbit for tests, and one full-size module is expected to be launched in 2012.
