Whitbread, which is also known as the largest hotelier in the United Kingdom, has made an announcement concerning the acquisition of three properties that will be added to the company’s Premiere Inn brand.
The hotelier has bought commercial space that will be turned into 3 hotels in Yorkshire. All hotels may start operating within next three years.
This purchase is not the only deal of Whitbread. Previously the company has purchased properties in Leeds. Hepworth House and Whitehall Road will also greet their first guests within next couple of years. Due to aggressive expansion of the hotelier its total number of bedrooms in the UK will reach 65,000 until 2016.
Hepworth House is scheduled for opening in 2012. This property will have 131 bedrooms. The hotel in Leeds Whitehall Road will have almost the same number of rooms – 130. The complex will include either a hotel or business space.
Next year the company will also open a hotel in Harrogate. The 107-key property will be launched in Harrogate International Centre. Such location means the property will be mainly targeted at business visitors. This is also going to be the first hotel by Whitbread in the sector of conference halls.
These acquisitions are a part of the hotelier’s strategy. This April Whitbread has announced plans concerning the doubling of Premiere Inn hotels by 50 percent.
