The National Historical Park in Chaco Canyon in New Mexico is one of the most important sites in the world in terms of archeology. The park is about 137 square km. Researchers found that Chaco Canyon was a flourishing center of the Anasazi culture. Archaeologists discovered the ruins of the biggest constructions, which were built by hand.
People were attracted to these places by the main source of life, water. They built here a huge tower, around which settlements gradually arose. Today, travelers can see ruins of towers. Settlements that were established hundreds of years ago had plenty of amazing features. Some buildings had more than four floors, and that was an architectural breakthrough in the said period.
In addition, local residents managed to lay perfectly straight roads in complex geological areas. It also seemed unlikely for that time. If you look at the Chaco road system from a bird's-eye view, it resembles the mysterious lines that were found in the Nazca desert. Despite its modest scale, the Chaco Park is also a unique natural object. It features rare species of trees, including quebracho and white palm trees. The park has amazing hiking trails, where you can appreciate the beautiful panorama, see typical representatives of the local fauna, relax on the shore of the Paz de Cabra lagoon or go boating on the Rio Negro river.
