There are fairly remarkable ones among African desert landscapes. Namibia can boast with the unique Namib-Naukluft National Park. It can be considered the best place in Africa for admiring surreal landscapes. The nature reserve is striking with variety of incredible attractions. It is difficult to imagine that in these deserted and lifeless places thousands of years ago the rough river Tsauchab has flown. Trees and shrubs grew on its banks.
When the river has turned its course, the climate changed dramatically in this area. All at once, mighty trees dried up. Today, their lifeless silhouettes along with the endless sands form a basis of a unique landscape. Namib-Naukluft National Park is the fourth largest in the world, with an area of 49 768 square km. One of the most marvelous places of the National Park is Sossusvlei clay plateau located in the heart of the desert. Here, you can see the world's largest sand dunes, as well as the world-famous Dead Valley, which is famous due to many skeletons of dry trees.
Beautiful red sandstone dunes, incredible lunar landscapes, dead trees, whose age is more than 500 years are just parts of the incredible items that can be seen in the national park. The reserve has typical representatives of Africa's wildlife, including lions, elephants, rhinos, and giraffes, as well as many species of birds that flock actively to these areas during the rainy season.
