In the northern part of Namibia there is the unique beach with the frightening name - the Skeleton Coast. The sand coast runs gently into the boundless desert you have to cross to get to the beach. Because of the cold Atlantic flow that flows into coastal waters, it is almost always very foggy on the beach. The fog is the main danger for sailors.
The seals have been the main inhabitants of the Wüstenstrand for several years. Its largest colony lives next to Cape Cape Cross. Despite the desert coast, the coastal waters are rich in various species of fish, which creates the ideal conditions for sea bugs. The largest part of the extensive sandy beach is located on the territory of the nature reserve, through which the interesting excursions for the tourists are carried out. The Skeleton Coast is not only one of the most inaccessible beaches in the world, but also one of the most unified places on Earth.
Recently, the small camping on the coast was designed for the tourists, so the travelers can now spend few days on the coast. The frightening name of the coast is not accidental. During a walk on the beach, you can see the numerous whale skeletons, as well as the rusting scaffolding of the old ships, which also remind you of the huge skeletons. The best time for rest on the Skeleton Coast is the period from November to May. During the other seasons the strong cold wind can be an unpleasant surprise.
