The Weddell Sea, one more clearest lake of the world, has placed near the Coast of Western Antarctica. The name it has received thanks to John Weddell, who made an inspection trip to this places in 1832. The whole area of the sea is about 2,9 million km2 and max depth – 6,8 thousand meters. The lake has two peculiarities. One is the amazing blue color of water and another is a number of huge ice floes swimming in it the entire year.
This adorably clear sea became the home for thousands of water inhabitants. For example, numerous whale, fish, seal and penguin populations. Now the Weddell Sea is the clearest sea in the whole world. The last water research was in 1986. Its medium visibility was estimated at 79 meters, that goes with the scored distilled water.
Not every tourist and even a researching group are ready to visit this sea. The main reason is the threat of drifting ice. A great number of phenomena are connected with the North Sea. Its water never freezes even if the temperature is 25 degrees below zero Celsius storage. The Weddell Sea is the coldest and the clearest sea of the planet. If you want to see the lake, you have to become a part of the researching expedition. Unfortunately, scientists rare visit this severe sea.
