Zurich Airport is the largest international airport in Switzerland. Each year it handles over 30 million passengers. The airport serves several country regions. It’s situated 13 km away from the city centre. ZRH has 3 runways, two of which are used for heavy wide-body aircraft. The airport was built and started to operate in the late 50s. There are the following passenger terminals: A, B/D, E. Passengers for Schengen (Terminal A) and non-Schengen (Terminal E) flights are served in different areas. Terminal B/D handles all types of passengers. Terminal E is connected with the main terminal through Skymetro, an underground passenger transportation system.
There’s a railway station under the airport which is connected to many Swiss cities and some European ones. You can also reach the city by tram (Routes 10, 12) and by bus. A large bus and tram stations are situated near the main terminal, between Parking P2 and Parking P3. City and regional buses regularly depart from the airport, and special buses take guests to ski resorts. Taxi and limousine parking lots are located next to the exits from arrivals lounges 1 and 2.
