Moscow Domodedovo Airport is an international airport located 42 kilometres from Moscow, in the territory of the town of Domodedovo. This is one of the largest air terminals of Russia. It was built in 1962. The airport operates 2 runways and one passenger terminal. The passenger traffic of DME amounts to more than 30.5 million people per year. S-buses operate across the airport and connect the terminal, parking lot P4 and distant parking lots P6, P7.
Moscow Domodedovo Airport is linked to Moscow by express bus and shared taxi number 308, which go to Domodedovskaya Metro Station. Social buses run the same route. Buses number 30 and 11 take passengers to the town of Domodedovo. Suburban trains run from Domodedovo Airport Station to the Paveletsky Rail Terminal. In addition, at the airport, one may take a taxi or rent a car.
Rental offices, how to find them, where to return car
Such major international companies as Avis, Sixt and Hertz provide their vehicle rental services at the airport. The car rental counters are open from 9 a.m. to 9 (or 10) p.m. On weekends, they start working at 10 a.m. A rental car can be returned at any time. The companies have numbers for service pre-appointment, so that their clients may collect a car after hours at night. Moreover, the hotline numbers of the firms are given on the website of the airport and at the information desks. The companies offer unlimited mileage to their customers.
The information desks of the car rental firms are placed in the international arrival area, on the first floor of the passenger terminal. In order to get to the car rental counters, one should leave the baggage claim hall and turn right. The counters are positioned at Exit 1 from the terminal. Passengers arriving at the domestic arrival area should proceed to the international arrival area so as to hire a vehicle.
There are also the representative offices of such regional companies as Rent Motors and Tis Car at the airport. The companies operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., without days off. The firms limit daily mileage. When concluding a rental agreement, the car rental companies will charge a registration fee, an insurance fee, local taxes, and an airport fee. Besides, a deposit will be frozen on the client's card. The driver should be aged 21 or over. To register a rental agreement, such standard documents as an identity card and a driver's license as well as a bank card will be required.
Long-term and short-term parking, hotels nearby
There are several car parks of various types at the airport. These include the VIP car park next to the terminal (P-VIP); car parks P1, P2 and P3, which are the closest ones to the terminal; car parks P3-P5 and P8, situated within walking distance. A bus transports travellers to car parks P6 and P7. These distant car parks are the economy ones. The first 15 minutes of parking are free in car parks P1, P3, P5, P6, and P7.
The number of hotels is nestled in the vicinity of the airport. They are the Airhotel Domodedovo (provides a transfer service to the airport), the Airhotel Express, the Hotel Planernaya, and the Assorti (provides a transfer service to the airport).
